NEW MUSIC: DJ KAY SLAY FEAT. KENDRICK LAMAR, MAC MILLER, & KEVIN GATES – ‘COLD SUMMER’

After announcing his star-studded album The Big Brother, DJ Kay Slay taps Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kevin Gates, and Rell for one of the album’s most anticipated singles, “Cold Summer.”

The melodic instrumental allows the quartet to deliver some introspective lines, starting with K-Dot’s vivid imagery. “Tidemarks and gun smoke stories,” he raps. “OGs reminisce and show glory / He said, ‘I’m hoping you make a way out / Before this MAC-11 do it for me.”

Following Rell’s soulful hook, Miller provides a warning for other MCs. “Me and Kendrick on a track,” he raps. “That’s bad news / For all you rappers that be talking shit to act a fool.”

Gates closes out the track with his own symbolic imagery and a comparison to Slim Shady. “Cold summer, swimming in the puddle with piranhas,” he raps. “Feel like Eminem, bitch, I ain’t ever knew my momma.”

Featuring The Game, Tech N9ne, Jay Rock, French Montana, Nipsey Hussle, Scarface, Ice-T, Dave East, Beanie Sigel, E-40, and many more, The Big Brother is due Sept. 22.
