Rihanna is joining several others, including Marc Anthony, in demanding that President Donald Trump do more to help the people of Puerto Rico following the devastation that was caused by Hurricane Maria.

Posting a cover of the New York Daily News, which depicts the “American Tragedy,” where people have “no food, no water, no power, no medical care for the dying,” Rihanna issued a plea to the President on Thursday (Sept. 28).

“Dear @realDonaldTrump,” she wrote. “I know you’ve probably already seen this, but I just wanted to make sure! Don’t let your people die like this.”

Today, after receiving criticism over the way that the crisis was handled, Pres. Trump tweeted that “the electric power grid in Puerto Rico is totally shot” and that “large numbers of generators are now on Island” along with “Food and water on site.”

In the wake of pressure from citizens and a petition from Puerto Rico’s Gov. Ricardo Roselló, the White House also loosened shipping rules today, which will reportedly make it easier to send supplies to Puerto Rico.

FEMA is working on relief efforts, as well. It reports that “more than 4.4 million meals, 6.5 million liters of water, nearly 300 infant and toddler kits [have been sent] to support 3,000 infants for a full week, 70,000 tarps, and 15,000 rolls of roof sheeting to the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria’s landfall,” according to Vox.

Next month, Jennifer Lopez, who has already donated $1 million towards relief efforts, will join JAY-Z as a co-headliner at TIDAL X: Brooklyn, a star-studded concert, which is meant to benefit Puerto Rico and others affected by natural disasters in Mexico and the United States.
